Dr Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry was invited to attend the Celebration of World Tourism Day organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Southern Region at Puducherry. It was a happy moment to interact with the Nodal Officer, Ms. Gayatri Panda, MoT (Puducherry Region) and the volunteers of this event.

Dr Tripathy spoke about the potential to link tourism and peace. Highlighted tourism and peace, interdependence in the economy, community reform, sustainable tourism, and protection of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

One of the significant attractions of the program was the focus on Rickshaw pullers, who play a significant role in local economies and offers an affordable mode of transport for daily commuters. Training in vehicle maintenance and financial literacy can help rickshaw pullers make more money. In many towns, rickshaw pulling is an integral part of the local economy, serving as more than just a mode of transportation. More inclusive and sustainable growth can result from striking a balance between urban development and the demands of rickshaw pullers.
