Bal Samskriti: Towards Creativity & Integral Development

On the occasion of Children’s Day, AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture and the Government of Puducherry organized a two-days workshop on the theme ‘Bal Samskriti: Towards Creativity & Integral Development’ from 14-15 November, 2023 at Sri Aurobindo Society.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary, AuroBharati said that AuroBharati has initiated many programs for the creative expression of children based on cultural activities. Through this workshop, we are trying to create a network among educational institutions to foster creativity and self-expression for the children in the light of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. V. Kaliperumal, Director, Department of Art & Culture, Government of Puducherry, said that children are the future of the country, and there is a tremendous scope to work for integral development and self-expression through this workshop. He also expressed his best wishes for collaborating with AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society and emphasized that many programs will be organized in the future in collaboration with academic institutions.
Ms. CharuTripathy, Co-ordinator of the project, said that Bal Samskriti is an initiative of AuroBharati that focuses on the integral development of children, with special emphasis on nurturing skills through various socio-cultural activities. She also said that this workshop is relevant to developing critical skills, artistic expressions, and creative activities.
During these two-day events, innovative activities were undertaken, including introducing traditional games, craft learning, scientific heritage and knowledge systems, learning through nature, interactive sessions related to the Auro scholar project, Group discussion, team building, and lots of fun.As part of the program, students also visited to the Children’s Corner of Romain Rolland Library, explored the rich collections and interacted on interesting concepts. Shri. V. Kaliperumal, Director, Department of Art & Culture, explained the role of libraries and museums for developing educational activities.
On this occasion, an exhibition of paintings on the theme ‘Cultural Heritage & Communities’ was also organized. Students from different schools of Puducherry, including Vaasavi International School, Deepsthal School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Calve College Government French High school, St. Joseph of cluny higher secondary school, Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School, St Patric Higher Secondary School, Govt. school and Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Mercury Creative Arts, Tirou Art Academy participated and shared their creative expressions through art.
The workshop was facilitated by experts including CharuTripathy, Associated Director, AuroBharati; Ms. Ratirekha, Women Council, Sri Aurobindo Society, Ms. Theresa, Art Teacher and Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy from Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry.
