Society Signs MOU with Tagore Government College

As a mark of commemorating the 150th Birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo and 75th year of India’s Independence, Sri Aurobindo Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tagore Government Art and Science College, Government of Puducherry.

The MoU would facilitate collaborations in the areas of Research, Publication, jointly organised events and research initiatives. The MoU was signed by Ms. Gita Patel, Member Executive, Sri Aurobindo Society, and Dr. Sashi Kant Dash, Principal, Tagore Government Arts & Science College, Puducherry.

At the signing ceremony, Dr. Sashi Kant Dash, Principal said that TGASC is a premier educational institution in Puducherry that has produced numerous academicians, politicians, and various other prominent personalities in the society for more than 6 decades. The college has its own credentials in shaping the young minds of the country to achieve greater heights and contribute to the development of our country in all aspects.

The college has excelled in academic performance, and it has been accredited by the NAAC and various other affiliating organizations. He also highlighted the importance of signing the MoU with Sri Aurobindo Society in collaborating in specific areas related to higher education from both the institutions have much to offer each other.

On this occasion, Dr Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary, AuroBharati emphasized on the vision of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.   He further added that this collaboration will open new areas for the dissemination of the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, including interdisciplinary research in different aspects of Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy.

The areas and fields for collaboration between SAS and TGASC will be very wide and inclusive. There will be a special effort to draw inspiration from India’s great intellectual tradition. The main objective is to partner and collaborate in all possible ways, in line with their respective mandates, and thus contribute towards a transformative change in the individual, the society and the country, leading to a better world.

The joint activities and collaborative programmes will be taken up through this collaboration including conceptual, policy and action-based research, jointly partnering and collaborating in projects and programmes, preparation of resource materials for various courses, publication of literatures, internships and volunteering opportunities for students. It shall be open for both the parties hereto conduct research and academic exchange programme in collaboration between themselves.

Dr. Sashikant Dash observed that the broad-based MoU would directly benefit many areas including making an academic and holistic experience more affordable and accessible for students.

Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary & Ms. Charu Tripathy, Associate Director, AuroBharati represented Sri Aurobindo Society and many faculty members from Taore College attended the function. After the ceremony, representatives from both the institutions discussed briefly about possible areas of collaboration.
