Scientific Heritage and the Knowledge System of India
Location: Sree Mother’s Vidyashrama, Tamil Nadu
Institute: AuroBharati
The initiative titled ‘Scientific Heritage and the Knowledge System of India’ is an effort by AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, aimed at conducting interdisciplinary studies and research activities to safeguard both ancient and modern Indian knowledge systems (IKS). In alignment with this initiative, we have introduced a program named ‘Promotion of Indian Knowledge Systems and the Scientific Heritage in Academic Institutions.’ We have identified seven model schools to enhance outreach and foster the appreciation of scientific heritage.
As part of the initiative, Dr. Kishor Kumar Tripathy, Member Secretary of AuroBharati, Sri Aurobindo Society, participated in a special ceremony organized by the Vidyashram in Killianur, Tamil Nadu. It was a pleasure to engage with the Principal and staff of the school and to be actively involved in the promotion of holistic education. The program aimed at promoting this scientific heritage along with the related knowledge systems. The initiatives undertaken by the Government of India to advance Indian Knowledge Systems and the National Education Policy (NEP) were also topics of discussion.
As part of this project, we are actively partnering with various institutions to develop impactful projects in collaboration with both governmental and private organizations, involving scholars who are experts in their respective fields. Important research projects and program outcomes will be announced in the near future.
